Never Again Will We Choose Chipotle Chicken Over Spicy Asian...

My day started out like any other... I woke up, went running, and ate my yogurt. But on the contrary this day is not like any other. Why? because now, 12 hours later I am laying on Aimee's bed. You see I am doing this because we were driving around. We decided to try chipotle chicken from the all famous Wendy's... yeah it was nasty and we got it all over ourselves in the car. Messy stuff I tell ya! Except for we managed to save the blanket!!! Now, like I mentioned, I am laying on Aimee's bed. Too tierd to go home. So this is where I will rest for the night.

Time Flies When You're..... Growing Up??

I honestly think I've learned more in the one year that I've been out of high school than I did the whole four years I was there. Don't get me wrong, high school was... great... but I wouldn't trade my past year of experiences for the world!
I've come to the conclusion that nobody can teach you the in's and out's of college better than yourself. Everyone has such a different experience, because everyone has such a different focus. College life was like a slap in the face. Pretty much everything and everyone screams, "GO OUT AND DO IT YOURSELF, OR IT WON'T GET DONE!!!" in your face.
Nobody is there to push you along. Nobody cares if you fail. Nobody is going to "give you a break", nobody is going to care about your excuses, and nobody is going to give you a grade you didn't earn.
Throughout this year I have learned a lot.
*I learned that I can write an 8 page paper in just one very long night.
*I learned that writing letters during class instead of taking notes means a lot of studying for the final is in my future!
*I learned that if I log onto facebook when I am supposed to be doing homework my homework won't get very far at all!
*I learned that if you have to eat a bagel with butter it goes down a lot easier if you micro wave it for 5 seconds first.
*I learned that the institute vending machines produce the best meals!
*I learned that financial aide takes FOREVER to go through, but when you get your refund checks back it's worth all the stress it produced.
*I learned that game nights are the best! Never pass one up!
*I learned that crazy English teachers might just be the only thing that make you smile in a day!
*I learned that procrastination is not the answer!
*I learned that it's always smart to check, double check, and even triple check what days tests are on, and what days assignments are due.
*I learned that Christmas break is looked forward to almost as much, or sometimes even more than summer.
*But I think most importantly I have learned that I am strong enough to be pushed to my limits, do things that I need to do with little sleep or motivation, I am the only one who can make things happen for myself, institute sometimes is the only thing that keeps me going throughout the week, the most random things can make my day that much more fun, I don't care if I look like an idiot, I'm not ashamed of being myself.
This year has seriously flown by! I never imagined that I would be able to say that I had been graduated from high school for a whole year! I don't know where I'll be next year at this time, but I hope that I can say that I've learned even more silly things than I learned this year. I hope I can say that I've grown more and learned even more about myself. And I know that I will have many more amazing experiences with my amazing friends, and I know I'll make more friends to have even more life changing moments with!
This quote pretty much summarizes what I've been trying to write in this post...
"Do not wait; the time will never be ''just right.'' Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along."
--Napoleon Hill

I started this year not knowing what I was getting myself into. With a lot of perseverance I now feel like I've got some direction. And I couldn't be more grateful to myself, and the people who have helped me get where I am.

"I Wish There Were Bubbles Like This In My Tub"

For the past little while now Becca and I have been longing to go get pedicures. Today we woke up and decided today was the day! So we called around to see who could take us in on such short notice. The folks at nail biz were just so kind and we were able to go within 45 minutes. Which was perfect because I was still in my pj's.So first thing when we got there the lady got our feet straight into hot bubbly water. It felt so good! We were supposed to soak for five minutes. There was only one problem, Becca's water wouldn't stop bubbling!!! There were bubbles everywhere! My feet were perfectly soaking away with minimum bubbles while she was fighting the bubbles away with every bit of strength that she has. As she was trying to contain the bubbles she said, "I wish there were bubbles like this in my tub, I never can get enough bubbles and here they all are! Now I wish I could put them to good use." Oh it was quite a site! The pedicures went so well! oh my feet felt like heaven after the whole process. My toe nails look so cute, and it was so fun to be able to spend some quality time with my big sis!
Not the best picture. Sorry, it was taken with my phone.

“If you wait to do everything until you're sure it's right, you'll probably never do much of anything.”

Making plans is an odd thing. It's like, we plan all of these events for our future, but we never know if they'll even end up happening. I like doing things on a whim. I'm the girl who's always saying, "oh why don't we do that tomorrow?" instead of waiting two weeks so that we can plan every little detail. It's more fun to be spontaneous anyway, I like not knowing exactly what is going to happen, or where we're going to end up. I like things to happen quickly because I feel like if I wait too long to make something happen it never will work out in the end. I guess I'm just a spontaneous soul.

Oh beautiful Sunday... I simply loved what you had in store for me!

My sweet day started out like any other Sunday in my life. I woke up! I sang some songs while I got ready. I ate breakfast (yogurt, it's my new staple food). And when I was finished with these simple tasks I ran off to Aimee's house to assist her in our usual Sunday morning ritual of... wasting time until church starts! On this particular day wasting time=going on a walk around the neighborhood! Church, as usual, was spectacular!
My dear sister Becca had her baby shower at our humble abode yesterday. It went over very well I thought. There were multiple people there to celebrate, and well eat all of my mom's amazing food! The party was fun, entertaining, and very educational. I learned a lot about everyone's different labor stories!
Aimee and I jetted out of my house quickly because our dear friend Jared invited us over to get snow cones! Now honestly, how in the world could we turn him down?! We decided to drive to Aimee's house and then walk over to his house. Which I was very glad we did this because.... I GOT TO GO ON KIDDIE HIGHWAY! My goodness gracious, I did not know what I was missing out on! Kiddie Highway, for those of you who don't know, is a long strip of cement that goes through like 4 streets, behind houses, in the middle of neighborhoods, and I honestly don't know how long it is because we only traveled on it for a short amount of time. But oh it was fun! We arrived at Jared's house and started making our snow cones. His snow cone maker, to my surprise, was a monster! It was not one of those small ones that you crank with your hands. I'm here to testify for all you non believers that he had a number 1 legit snow cone maker! And the only problem we ran into all day was that there were ants in the lime flavoring. That was kind of gross. But we solved the problem by just eating the blue raspberry and passion fruit flavors instead. Needless to say, we all had blue mouths. Except Aimee because she was the odd ball and wanted orange... We love her anyway though! I learned a lot from our time at Jared's house. He has a WAY smart nephew who loves Dr. Seuss, anyone can be any animal they want to be as long as they say "abra ca dabra" and turn themselves into it, Jared doesn't like to wear princess crowns (who would've guessed?!), and of course, there are some people who have to peel out every time they do anything in their ugly little piece of crap truck.
After we left Jared's house and took our trip back to Aimee's on Kiddie Highway we got in her car to take a usual Aimee and Kayla nightly drive around Cedar and surrounding areas. While we were driving I received a phone call from an unknown number. I answered, my curiou
s mind never let's those phone calls go unanswered. It was my friend Megan. She invited Aimee and I over to her cousin's house to watch a movie. Hmmmm.... yes, we went. We ate popcorn and drank water. We watched a movie, watched Kurt and Wade wrestle, talked, and laughed. Yep, it was a good choice on our part! And I'm happy we got the invite!
On our way home we were driving by Cedar High and saw that the sprinklers were on.... oh we just couldn't resist! So at midnight last night you could have found us running through the sprinklers in front of Cedar High School getting drenched! Our feet were freezing! It was completely worth it! Oh how mine and Aimee's adventures never cease to amaze me!

I Like It!

Lately I feel like all I ever do is gas up my car! It's really starting to annoy me. I gas up and then I go to St. George. It's been my life for like the past week. I think I've been to St. George more lately than I have been in the whole time I've lived here put together... OK, maybe not that much, but still! Gassing up is my constant factor. BUT on the bright side! Going to St. George means that I've also been at Target a lot recently! My favorite thing about Target is that after you buy something from there they put it in one of their signature shopping bags. Target bags are special because they are so recycle happy! On every single bag it gives 5 ways to reuse your Target bag. I think I will share them with you since they light up my life so often!
1- Tiny Trash Can Liner
2- Doggy Duty (this one's my favorite)
3- Soggy Laundry
4- Tomorrow's Lunch Bag
5- Care Package Padding
Oh those Target people are so creative!
My life has been really good the last couple of days!
Monday's FHE was very fun. We played mafia. There was a really good turn out. It always scares me when it's time for people to start showing up because I get super afraid nobody is going to come. Then a million and ten people come and I freak out because I have to stand up in front of them all and tell them what we are doing. Usually I'm not very good at explaining things. So that's always very interesting, and probably quite entertaining for everyone who comes. Maybe they only come to watch me make a fool out of myself. I may never know!
On Tuesday Becca's friend Rachel threw a baby shower for her in St. George. I went along. It was really fun! We played games, ate food, and cake, we got to see some old friends and it was really fun to be able to catch up with them.
I have some tasks that I want to accomplish this summer. I've been craving to do these things for a while now and well this summer will be a very good time to do them I believe.
1- Ride through the tunnels in Zion yelling with my windows down.
2- Go on a road trip!
3- Celebrate my 19th birthday! (I'm pretty sure I'm going to make a HUGE deal out of this)
4- Become an aunt!
5- Be the best FHE coordinator of all time!
6- Go to a baseball game
7- Go to a concert!
8- Work, Work, Work, Work, Work, Work (I could go on for days!)
9- Buy TONS of snow cones from Lauren and Clay (I want to try every flavor)
10- Keep doing the random everyday things that make my life amazing!
So pretty much this is what I'm going to be focusing on from now on. I'll have to let you know when I check these items off my list.
Tonight it's Saturday, and I like it!

My Music Craze Continues...

NO worries y'all I'm NOT in love! Believe me, if I was... You would all have read all about it by now. BUT if i was in love or rather if I thought I might be, this would be my theme song! And even though I'm NOT it's still my ALL TIME favorite song at this moment in time.

I'm Kind Of Like Oprah...

Except for unlike Oprah: I don't have a TV show, I'm not black, When someone enters my presence I don't sing their name, I'm not known by everyone, my whole life only gets as far as this blog, and there are many many more aspects of mine and Oprah's life that don't compare!
BUT I DO HAVE FAVORITE THINGS!
(sadly I'm not rich enough to give you all a sample of them... so I hope a picture will suffice!)
So just to name a few...
I absolutely LOVE getting the mail!
(well, more checking to see
if anything is for me! haha)

I have a crazy obsession with eyelashes! I think they're so entertaining!
If Doritos weren't so horribly bad for me, I would most likely live off them!
I have an undying love for Celine Dion!
Aimee and I have a tradition of attending midnight movies on Friday nights.
Midnight movies
complete me!
So you know how in trail mix there's always peanuts and raisins? I like to eat them together cause it's sweet and salty! Best combination ever!
Life saver gummies... They're so flavorful!

So Mandy got me hooked on McDonald's smoothies while she was here!
Hooked meaning I have to consciously tell myself I can't have one
every sin
gle day!
I think this is the best discovery I have every made. Becca and I just
randomly purchased this one day... S
pecial K Fruit and Yogurt. There's
not a downside to this stuff. It should be a food group!

Pearls are gorgeous! They are so symbolic to me! I'm always wearing my
pearl ring. If you see me with it off ther
e's only one place it would be... on Lauren's
finger instead of mine haha :) No w
orries though I always get it back!
Dragon fruit Vitamin water saves me! It's an acquired taste, but I crave it!
WELL OF COURSE! I can't leave her out! I'm going to make this short sweet and to the point because I could go on forever.... If you want to make my life complete and be my number one favorite person on the planet give me tickets to go see Oprah... my dream is dying though seeing as she is filming her last season.. :(

I Too Have A Mother... And She Has A Mother...

Mama Test
I was out walking with my 4-year-old daughter. She picked up something off of the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that.'Why?' my daughter asked. 'Because it's been on the ground; you don't know where it's been, it's dirty, and probably has germs,' I replied'.At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, 'Mama, how do you know all this stuff? You are so smart. ' I was thinking quickly and replied, 'All moms know this stuff. It's on the Mama test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mama.' We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information.'Oh.....I get it!' she beamed, 'So if you don't pass the test you have to be the daddy..' 'Exactly,' I replied with a big smile on my face.
I thought this was very appropriate for mothers day! I love you mommy and grandma! Thanks for always being there for me, putting up with me, smiling and saying "OK" after I tell you one of my many stupid ideas, telling me that you love me, sharing past memories with me, making me smile when I'm sad, just sitting there when I need someone to listen, taking care of me, and many many more things that if I kept mentioning I would go on forever! I couldn't ask for two more amazing women to try and pattern my life after!

It's A Battle Between The Envirornment, Laundry, And Gravity

You wanna know what I don't like? How just because something is better for the environment or our checkbooks makes it automatically better for us. Take front load washers for example. Yes, they use less detergent and water but honestly I like being able to pick up my laundry basket and dump it into the washer. When I'm trying to load a front load washer It's like fighting gravity. The clothes automatically fall out, unlike in a top load washer when you know your clothes are securely sitting in the bottom of the washer. In conclusion environment friendly items are not always Kayla friendly.

Like A Catterpillar

I know that eventually there will be one of those classic summer days that I don't have anything to do, nothing exciting happens, and I sit around in my pj's all day... maybe I'd even have time to clean my room if one of those days every landed in my lap, but it has yet to happen!
Today I saw the most beautiful caterpillar ever. OK... it wasn't a caterpillar after all, it was Becca's friend Julia's new baby girl. The reason I said caterpillar was because after babies are born they wrap them up so tightly in blankets. I think it's because the little ones are used to being in the womb. So they like to be scrunched up! Julia wanted Becca there right after she had her. So the second we found out she had come into the world we scurried down to St. George. She's such a pretty little 6 lb. 15 oz. baby with a lot of black hair, green eyes, and her mom's nose! Her name is Sophia Celeste.
Unfortunately, both Becca and I had to work tonight so we had to scurry right on back up to Cedar after our short visit. We almost saw about 6 diesel trucks cause accidents. It was not very comforting. We got back home just in time to go to work.
Work tonight was good. I don't have any spectacular stories. I made some pretty good money for how not very busy it was. There were some really nice folks out eating tonight. When one guy walked in I greeted him and then told him I had to wipe a table off for him. He said, "oh that's too bad I don't want you to have to work." I said, "then you shouldn't have come in." He gave me kind of a scowling look but I thought it was pretty appropriate of a come back seeing as how he set it up himself. I walked away laughing. I don't think he knew how to take it.
I'm pretty much ready for whatever life has to hand me!

First Day Of Summer=Success

Summer of 2010 started like this...
I woke up in the morning feeling like Kayla Donohoe. I couldn't have planned it any better. I was going to go swimming but that plan quickly got overrided by Becca inviting me to eat breakfast and watch Law and Order with her. It was a good switch of plans!
I cleaned my car. It is now vacuumed! It seriously looks so good! I love having it clean and sparkly!
I had to go do some shopping for FHE (since I am now the new FHE coordinator). It was so cool that I could just go to Lins and say "this is for my ward" and I had to show my ID and sign a paper and it was completely taken care of!
I went to lunch with my dear sister Becca. We went to Pastry Pub... my favorite. We both had hot sub sandwiches. I think I officially converted her! :)
I completed my everyday joyous job of picking up Maddie and Cheyenne from school and taking them to polo.
Then... dun dun dun... I watched Oprah while I worked out on my mom's treadmill. Oprah was way interesting it was all about a model who throws temper tantrums. But I was thinking the whole time that I don't really blame her for throwing temper tantrums because people betray her trust. I think I would too. I mean none of us are perfect, and she seemed like a sweetheart. I decided I liked her a lot. She's fought drug problems and addictions and I she seemed pretty solid.
Then I headed to the church to prepare for FHE. Aimee joined me and we set up all the stuff and got everything ready for the people to come and participate in the activity. At 6:30 we started waiting for people to come. A few people started showing up and I was getting a little worried that my first ever activity that I was in charge of was going to be a failure. BUT on the contrary when we started the activity lots of people started coming! More than I had even expected to come in the beginning! For the activity we made homemade ice cream in plastic bags. I thought the activity went over really well. Everyone seemed like they had a good time. I hope all of the activities can go over as well as that one! (except for the salty ice cream) haha
I was so relieved when the activity was over. Aimee called me and invited me over to her house to watch We are Marshall with her, Jens, Brennan, Omar, Brian, and John. The movie takes place in the same place as one of Jens' areas on his mission. So the whole time I was asking him if places looked familiar or if he'd been to that place before. It was fun to know that he knew the area! After the movie Ariel came over too and we all sat and talked for a while. It was such a fun group of people!
If you know Aimee and me at all you know we love to drive! So needless to say the night ended in a traditional drive around Cedar. I honestly believe we know this town more than 90% of the people who live here. We drive around every road so often. And we know all the connecting roads and how to get exactly where we want to go! Driving for recreation will do that for ya haha!
Summer has started and I'm happy with how it's happening so far! I can't wait to see how much changes in the next couple months. There's so much potential that this summer could bring! And I can't wait to watch it all unfold!

Sometimes You Have To Go To All Lengths!

This is the story of a girl who wanted a smoothie!
One fine night there was a girl, she wanted a smoothie really badly! The only problem was that her mom said that she couldn't make the smoothie inside because the blender was too loud and it would wake her little siblings up. This was more than tragic! So, instead of moping around wishing she had a smoothie she decided to solve her problem by being creative. Inside the house was not the only place that had electric plugs. "This is brilliant", she thought! "Of course!" I can blend my smoothie outside in the snow! So she got the smoothie all ready to blend while she was still inside and then she took the blender outside to find a plug on the side of her house. This was harder of a task than she had planned. It was dark and the plugs were covered by little flaps to protect them. But soon enough she discovered one by the grill! This was perfect because then she could just put the blender on the shelf of the grill and she wouldn't have to put it on the ground, or if the cord wouldn't reach the ground she wouldn't have to hold it. So off she went blending her smoothie up... then she ran into another problem... the blender wasn't blending very well at all! And she didn't want to have to go inside to get a spoon so she could stir it so all of the stuff would get blended up. So instead she would blend for a while, then shake the blender so the stuff would get moved around, and then blend it for a little while longer. This process was repeated many times until she finally was happy with the blending of her smoothie and she took it all back inside and partook of smoothie! Without her amazing problem solving skills she would've had a terrible night, but because she is so smart she was able to drink her smoothie in pure happiness!
P.S. It may or may not be a coincidence to the story that this girl looks a lot like me, and she is wearing my spring break shirt.

Mood Swings

Sometimes as a girl it's interesting to watch myself go through mood swings! It's like one second I'm completely fine, the next I'm bawling, then I want to punch someone in the face, I go straight to pouting, I feel bad for myself for a little while, I want to check myself into a mental hospital. Then the smallest thing in the world can make the biggest difference. A smile, a baby, a hug, a few kind words, or a picture can make me get the most amazing warm feeling in my heart and make my life worth living again!
